I am an independent artist and I have released 3 singles all through iTunes and CDBaby. I studied music in the 1980′s, playing bass. Then I learned songwriting from looking at the scores for the 1970′s funk bands like Chic (Nile Rodgers) or Prince. In 1990 I had a demo but I was told that solo male singers were no longer an option. It was the time grunge bands were in vogue. So I had to abandon music to attend college (University of California, Irvine) and then I worked in High Tech at a company called TimesTen which was later bought by Oracle. I resumed making music in 2010.
The music video of my new song “Somebody Pull Me Up” is ready: the video has achieved 3000 views in a short time period. The song is available on iTunes. This is an original song, written by its performer Dario Margeli, with socially conscious lyrics that talk about how regular people feel trapped in a social system of low paying jobs and bleak futures. Emphasis has been put in writing a very original melody for the song. The recording has rock guitars by an experienced musician who goes by the artistic name of Hat Trick. His Psychedelic Indie Rock style of playing the guitars provides an energetic backing to the song. Like a friend said, it has Fuzz all over. The actress in the video is also a prominent photographer. I have US Citizenship, with a degree from University of California, Irvine. Having lived most of my life in California, with the first dot com crash I moved to Europe (Spain).
There is also a Dance Remix of the song, created by the Hungarian producer BiTbear who has produced big name artists like Barb@zul, Berlin based Luis Miguelez (Glitter Klink), and French artist Pierre Pascal. Here is the remix.
This summer saw the release by the California based record company “Now Again / Stones Throw Records” of an album on which I worked on, developing its booklet and as a consultant in 2010. This album, also released on vinyl, has been very successful, receiving praise in newspapers and publications like the LA TIMES, UNCUT Magazine. It was the excitement of working on that project that got me interested in writing my own songs again. My first song release came in November 2010, and it was a collaboration via internet exchanges with Florida guitar player Hugh Williams.
