by Independent Staff

Our ears never sleep. We’re always looking for the best music for you, stay sure. And we have put together our new indie hit parade: James Mercer is back, for example. And this is just the starting point… where are we going to end? You have to go on reading to find it out. Bon voyage.

The Shins: after his Broken Bells project with Danger Mouse, James Mercer has decided to get back to his old band, The Shins. The new record is titled Port of Morrow and will be out in March. In the meanwhile, we can enjoy the first single “Simple song”, classy as usual.

The Big Pink: the first record was a shoegaze trip. Now, The Big Pink have decided to hit a more poppy and funky record. Disappointing? Nah, just different. Give them a chance, they deserve it. You can start with the fresh “Hit the ground (Superman)”, the lead single.

Rusko: the indie approach does not involve only rock music. So, here’s our proposal: Rusko is a dubstep producer with the likes of websites like Pitchfork. Music for clubs, but with an alternative vibe. Music that conquers old people too, as you see in the ironic video of “Somedy to love”, the first single from the upcoming record O.M.G.

Alabama Shakes: they’re named Alabama Shakes but they come from Athens, Georgia. They’re a blues and soul band, led by singer Brittany Howard and full of the spirit of the old and good black music, but also inspired by ladies like Joni Mitchell and Janis Joplin. You can hear the single “Hold on” here and judge with your ears.

Bowerbirds: North Carolina folk-rockers Bowerbirds are back in the game. The band will release his new album The Clearing on March 6. Recorded at Bon Iver’s April Base Studio in Wisconsin, the new effort follows 2009′s Upper Air. “Tuck the Darkness” is the first track made available. Acoustic guitars, violins and melancholia. All for you.
