If I should fall from grace

by Independent Staff

Shane MacGowan – alias Shane Patrick Lysaght MacGowan born 25 December 1957 – is one of the most iconic and troubled characters of English indie music of the last 30 plus years.
As leader of the folk punkers The Pogues first, then as a solo artist, he recorded some of the finest, funniest and most desperate songs in the history of contemporary music. Despite his problems with alcohol and substance abuse in the past, he survived his own demons and he’s still performing, true to his own roots.

If I Should Fall From Grace is a documentary from 2001 by Sarah Share, portraying MacGowan both in his greatness and frail humanity. The film includes contemporary interviews with his family, fellow musicians like Nick Cave, his longtime partner Victoria and direct one-on-one sessions with Shane himself. These are interwoven with performance material stretching back to Shane’s earliest work.

Here it is… enjoy.
