Fugazi, the Washington post hardcore band born from the ashes of Minor Threat, has been on hiatus since 2003 (but it’s still considered active, since no official break-up was announced). During their career that started in 1987, Fugazi played hundreds of gigs all over the world, following a strict price policy for their tickets. they had to be cheap and affordable. They also often played for free benefit shows.
On December, 1, Dischord – the label run by Fugazi’s Ian McKaye – put online the magnificent Fugazi Live Series, a gargantuan collection of 800 live shows recorded between 1987 and 2003. Each show is available to preview for free, and to download for a pay-what-you-want fee, with five dollars the suggested price. The site launched with a base of a little more than 100 downloadable shows, with the rest to come.
